First Amarante adventures

@Amarante, next to Tâmega river,
with the famous cathedral behind us.

here been already couple of days of my Amarante life, and i finally have some time to share few of the recent adventures.
first of all want to tell that I am super happy of the chance to join the organizing team and be part of the background work for the training. Gives me more and more the feeling and discovery that i really like the logistics sides of the projects.
if looking back to yesterday, then well, it was fun fun day, the first working day for most of participants, the arrival day for couple of participants and challenge plus adventure for me.
Most of the yesterdays happenings reminded me of the logistics fun stuff of Challenge:Future summit. as yesterday i not only manage to talk with parents and family of one of the that time missing participants. The conversations and the phone calls made me more sure that families in eastern countries and Asian regions are very caring of their relatives when they are traveling abroad. especially if in morning they unexpectedly receive the call from event organizers asking where is our participant...as it was supposed to be participants contact phone but then turned out to be phone to call home. Luckily it all ended up just with few long conversations and instant questioning if there are any updates and our participant arriving just couple of hours later of the conversations.
other than that, i have to admit that i underestimated or more like misjudged or prejudiced the age group for all participants, or more likely nobody really told me of the age group. So yeah, if for the Challenge:Future summit there was very silly coincidence or more likely lack of information and the transfer company brought us the wrong person, as we were waiting for afro-American guy below thirty from Uganda, then they brought us guy around fifty and typical spanish from Madrid, and due to lack of english he was sure he is going to the right place. what happen this time, that i received the call that i should go and pick up participant in the bus station as he has arrived and waiting there. i approach the bus station, saw the bag outside of the station, went inside, had a look around and there was nobody to pick up, well that what i thought, although he was just sitting in front of me and i did not realize as he was not my expected age group, so meaning older than expected...so first thought that came in my mind was, is he in the right place? However i did not ask directly, luckily, proud of myself that i decided to use the hidden question approach and after some short moments, i made sure that indeed he was the right participant. Had to laugh about this all yesterday long. fun life it is.
Other than yesterday, then what happen today and i have to once again come up to the same old statement of how small is the world and how big is Latvia. I travel all across the Europe, i go to the North of the country with big group of the international people, i arrive here and find out that here are couple of latvians around living in Amarante and working within EVS project the same youth house we are currently staying at. So try to tell me now, that world is big and Latvia is small.
Other than that everything is developing well and i am having nice learning times and fu working times.
Stay cool. S.
