Taguspark Adventure

before its fallen out of my head and left behind, i wanted to share the nice adventure i got myself into yesterday as i think it has to be noted after-all.

couple a weeks ago just short after getting to move to Lisboa, and discovering the amount of free time, i had the thought of maybe finding some new free time hobby to do or small part time kind of job, as being in EVS there is no legal option of being employed even if its part time or anyhow... so yeah, it all came to that one of the days browsing the expat site, there was the add of looking for different native language speakers to translate from english to their language just pieces of short text for the online game. As with short search i found no latvian translations for the site, i decided to give a try and offer my skills and knowledge. E-mail sent...couple of days passed...no reply...couple of more days passed...i already left this behind and it was forgotten.

However with the other culture and with the august vacation times, like two weeks or so passed and my mailbox received an e-mail of stating that they would like to offer me translation/community manager internship within their company, i should just send the CV and then they will see of the interview time.

So the e-mail conversations summed up to an interview I went to yesterday...and it may have been time waste for them, as i was direct of that i am actually not looking for a job at the moment. However the meeting itself was a great learning and getting to know portuguse culture experience.

If sharing some fun facts of the job interview itself, then i had the meeting at 10am, at 9.30 i was kind of lost and somewhere half way of my home, and had the feeling that i will arrive super late. with asking directions for the bus, and being super lucky not to wait for it, i managed myself to be 9.55 in front of their office. as not being sure if i should arrive sharp 10 or better is couple of minutes in advance, i made another turn around before i entered the office, and then like 2 minutes before 10 i went inside. I was greeted by two awesome portuguese guys, and excused that the Boss is still not here and will arrive in short time to take the interview...meanwhile waiting i had the chance to share about Latvia and life there, as well some other small talks... presumably i think the boss was late like 5 or 10 minutes...so yeah, the southern culture is definitely here.

Other than that during my job interview, it turned out him knowing what means BEST as there is someone of his friends who was a member...so try to tell me that the world is not one small place. Other than BEST talks, i also managed to bring up the topic that Facebook don`t runs all the world, as only around 15% of latvians use facebook, as we have the megasized our national social media network, where is almost everyone there.

All in all I really much enjoyed the meeting and even though it ate my friday working time, it was a great adventure and experience. So be sure, in life everything is possible and crisis are in the heads of people more than it exists out there, as every problem is actually a new challenge. So here comes the end of my story.

P.S. Why the title says Taguspark adventure, its all because its a new place i got to know thanks to the job interview i went. Its a very big and amazingly cool technology park with science labs, enterprises, offices and much more.
